What is involved
The walks are around 2+ miles in length (1-3 hours) on flat and low level hills, on marked trails. We walk at a leisurely pace with plenty of rest stops to admire the scenery and soak in the atmosphere. We work with themed questions to help give focus to the conversations. We often call into local entreperneus to hear their stories and learn from their experiences,
Netwalking can make a great company away day and we can incorporate interesting and relevant stops and activities along the way to encourage learning and teamwork etc

As part of the Clare LEO Local Enterprise Week we were looking for something a little different that would help local enterprises step back from their day to day business and interact with others to get a fresh perspective on the future direction of their enterprises. Fergal O’Farrell approached us with the idea of a “Netwalk” where we would utilise the natural environment to get people outdoors and away from their natural work environment. Fergal also developed the “Netwalk” to incorporate visits to local enterprises on the route. This allowed those enterprises to share their challenges, how they overcame them and provided real live examples which was both informative and interesting.
Fergal broke the “Netwalk” into different stages and at each stage he set a theme for discussion which the participants then discussed in a very relaxed and informal manner as they strolled through the countryside. On the day, we had over 40 participants and at the end of the “Netwalk” you could feel how reenergised and enthusiastic they were to not only drive their own enterprises forward but also to work collaboratively to help and support each other. Padraic McElwee Head of Enterprise Clare Local Enterprise Office
“We and others have found that ideas flow more freely in a netwalk than they would around a table in a room. People are more inclined to ‘think outside the box’, and come up with fresh and radical insights and innovations” STEPS Centre Summer School
